Therapy Dog
Sadie is a goofy & affectionate Therapy Dog in training.
Sadie is a Golden Retriever who has been cuddling children since she was 8 weeks old! During The Speech Fairy’s group programs, Sadie is a nonjudgemental friend who creates a safe space for everyone to practice their social communication.
Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) has been proven to be highly beneficial for children with communication challenges. Interactions with animals helps to reduce anxiety and stress, which can often hinder verbal and non-verbal communication. Through activities like grooming, playing, or simply petting the animal, children are motivated to express themselves, whether through words, gestures, or facial expressions. This type of therapy fosters emotional connection and social engagement, helping children practice skills in a more natural, less pressured way. Additionally, the bond they form with the therapy animal can build their confidence and improve their overall social interactions, making it a valuable complementary approach for communication development.
